The Gironde is full of sensational panoramas. Whether in the city of Bordeaux, with its Unesco World Heritage monuments, or in the vineyards. If you like weddings that are chic and full of emotion, you’ll love this series of photos. Charlotte and Stéphane have decided to join forces at Château Gassies in Latresne, an authentic site in the Latresne hills. As a wedding photographer, I was delighted to capture such beautiful moments with all their guests. As someone who particularly appreciates complicit couples and good humor, I was well served! Would you like to discover this renovated château and its idyllic setting? Do you love festive, emotional weddings? I’ll take you with me to tell you all about this unforgettable day.
Located 10 minutes by car from Bordeaux’s Gare Saint Jean, Latresne overlooks Bordeaux and the Garonne River. Here you’ll find Château Gassies, a magnificent bourgeois residence on a 14-hectare estate. This château, built in 1775, was originally a vineyard, but the then owner soon sold the adjoining vines. The current owners have spent 4 years renovating it from top to bottom to host luxurious weddings and events. I love Château Gassies and its gardens, which provide a particularly refined backdrop for couple photos. The restored stonework and park provide ideal lighting. Here, the former winery has been transformed into a sophisticated reception room, perfect for welcoming newlyweds and their guests.
Bridal preparations took place in the château’s bridal suite. This room is very photogenic and we used the four-poster bed to hang Charlotte’s beautiful dress. I particularly liked the large half-moon windows, which add a lot of charm to the old stones. Charlotte was able to get ready and have her hair done in this bright room. The room is so spacious that I was able to photograph the bride and her five bridesmaids without the need for a wide-angle lens. I witnessed a wonderful moment of sharing in front of my lens.
Stéphane got ready in the next room. The old beams and meticulous decoration give this second bedroom a lot of charm. The perfect lighting allowed me to take some very nice shots of the groom and two witnesses. Here’s a great group of friends whose complicity is evident in every photo. Once everyone was ready, we headed to the château grounds for the ceremony.
The ceremony took place in the grounds of Château Gassies, in the shade of century-old trees. The bride’s brother-in-law masterfully carried out the ceremony, delivering a performance worthy of a professional. A chic, retro decor with beautiful flowers. There was even a self-service glass box of “happy” handkerchiefs! And just as well: I’ve rarely seen a ceremony where people laugh and cry so much!
I photographed a very moving moment that left a deep impression on me. I loved the poignant exchange between father and daughter. I have to admit that as a young father, I was very touched by so much tenderness.
I was able to immortalize the guests and the bride and groom during the speeches. I’ve added a series of timeless, authentic black and white photos to the gallery. They convey emotions faithfully. They stand in stark contrast to the colorful clichés of the choreography that woke up the whole assembly!
Once the rings had been exchanged and the tears dried, everyone headed for the wooden terrace. The guests masterfully performed a wild flash mob to Macklemore’s Glorious . They literally set the place on fire. What an atmosphere! The aperitif got off to a lively start.
I was then able to spend some time with the bride and groom to take their couple photos. I’ll show you the results in a future blog post, so stay tuned!
After this photo shoot, I could count on the witnesses to set the mood. My job as a wedding photographer requires me to connect with guests and brides and grooms to create portraits that stand out from the crowd. The photos of the wedding dinner are lively and dynamic, and you can see the joy on the faces. I was pleased to see that the guests were in a festive mood and I was able to take some crazy photos. These will also be presented in a future article. They’re worth the detour!
The evening was filled with emotion and tenderness. I shot some lovely videos and captured the couple’s complicity. The evening was filled with emotion and tenderness.
